Federal Business Tax Filing
Annual Filing Requirements:
- Federal business tax returns are required annually
- Filing requirements depend on the entity's tax classification:
- C Corporation – Form 1120
- S Corporation – Form 1120-S
- Partnership – Form 1065
Texas Franchise Tax (Required for All Texas Entities)
Key Requirements:
- All entities registered with the Texas Secretary of State are required to file an annual Texas Franchise Tax report
- Filing is required even if there is no income or business activity
- Failure to file may result in penalties, interest, and loss of good standing with the State of Texas
Important Notice
A Texas Webfile Number is required in order to file the Texas Franchise Tax report. You may have received a letter from the Texas Comptroller's Office stating Webfile in your mail.

Sales & Use Tax (If Applicable)
When This Applies:
- Applies only to businesses selling taxable goods or services in Texas
- Filing frequency is assigned by the Texas Comptroller (monthly or quarterly)
Payroll & Employment Taxes (If Applicable)
When This Applies:
- Applies only if the business has employees or plans to run payroll
- Federal payroll tax filings and Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) reporting may be required
Important Compliance Notice
Even if your business has no income or activity, zero (no-activity) federal business tax returns and the Texas Franchise Tax report are still required. Failure to file the Texas Franchise Tax can result in penalties, interest, and forfeiture of the entity's good standing with the State of Texas.
